Post Summary: I recently published a full Bali Elopement Guide dedicated to everything Bali elopements, but I wanted to create a separate guide to go deeper into the top Bali elopement locations – because there are SO many to choose from. Below is a full guide to the 25 best places to elope in Bali, from mountains, to beaches, to waterfalls, to caves + canyons! Trust me: no matter which of these locations you choose, your elopement is going to be phenomenal on this magical island.
The Ultimate “How to Elope in Bali” Checklist
Before we get into the best locations for your Bali elopement, I wanted to give you a few quick tips to help you start planning your special day!
1. Pick potential dates around the best time to visit
Before anything else, you should do some research into Bali’s seasons + climate, and pick a few possible dates around the best time to visit. In addition to weather conditions, here are a few things you should consider when picking the best time for your Bali elopement:
- Tourists + crowds
- What kinds of activities you want to do (cost, appropriate weather, how long they’ll take, etc.)
- Accommodations
- Travel costs
It’s important to choose the right time of year for your elopement so that you can have the smoothest day possible, enjoy the kind of weather you love the most, and do alllll the activities you want to do during your time in Bali! I recommend picking a few different dates initially, to make sure that your dream vendors are available and so you can find a date that works for your guests (if you’re inviting any).
2. Choose your location(s)
After you pick a few potential dates for your elopement, it’s time to start looking at locations! That’s what this guide is for – duh. First, think about what type of location you’d like: are you big fans of the mountains? Are you happiest at the beach? Do you love hiking to waterfalls together? Think about the vibe you’re going for and what kind of activities you’re looking to do, as well as how many guests you’ll have + how far you’re willing to travel.
And don’t just pick one – I recommend choosing 2-3 locations so that you have at least one backup plan in case your top choice doesn’t work out for any reason!
3. Hire your Bali elopement photographer + other vendors
Now that you’ve got dates & locations in mind for your ideal Bali elopement, it’s time to reach out to vendors! I recommend reaching out to your dream Bali elopement photographer first, as photographers usually book out pretty far in advance – which is also why it’s great to choose multiple potential dates. That allows you to work with your photographer to find a day that works for all of you! Once you’ve booked your photographer, see if they can help you find other vendors for your big day so that you have the perfect team of people to bring your dream elopement to life.
4. Book your lodging
Next up: book lodging for your elopement on the part of the island you want to explore! Bali has TONS of gorgeous Airbnbs and breathtaking resorts for you to choose from, whether you want to stay in a cozy Airbnb overlooking Bali’s iconic rice terraces or at an upscale resort where you can get some R&R on the beach.
5. Schedule your Bali elopement activities
Lastly, when you’re closer to the big day, it’s time to plan out all the activities you want to incorporate into your Bali elopement! There is SO much to do in Bali that it’s nearly impossible to do everything you want to check off of your list, so I recommend choosing a few activities that are your priority – then picking a few more that you can plan if you have the time. Whether you want to visit the sacred monkey forest in Ubud, go white water rafting, snorkel through the crystal clear waters of the island, swim with the Manta Rays, or visit sacred Balinese temples, ANYTHING you do in Bali will be amazing.

25 Best Places to Elope in Bali
Now that you’ve got an idea of how to start planning your Bali elopement, let’s dive right into the top 25 best places to elope in Bali! I’ve separated the locations into a few different categories: mountains, waterfalls, lakes, beaches, rice terraces, and caves + canyons. I hope this massive list helps you narrow down your list of dream Bali elopement locations – it’s going to be so hard to choose, so know that I’m also here to help as your Bali elopement photographer!
Mountains
1. Mount Batur
Mount Batur is actually an active volcano in the middle of two calderas, located in the Kintamani highlands in the Bangli region. You can either elope with Mount Batur in the background, or you can hike up to the top for epic views of the island! It’s definitely one of the most iconic hikes in all of Bali because the scenery from the top is freaking phenomenal, especially if you start the climb around 1-2am to make it to the top for sunrise. It’s a 5.8-mile out & back hike with an elevation gain of just over 2,200 feet, so it’s definitely a bit of a challenging hike – but is SO worth it!
2. Gunung Abang
Gunung (Mount) Abang is the 3rd highest mountain on Bali, and is actually the highest point of the caldera that surrounds Mount Batur. You can hike Gunung Abang starting from Kedisan, located on the south side of Batur Lake, and you’ll head about 1.9 miles up the forest, past two temples, up to the summit! Once again, the views are epic and would make for the coolest backdrop for your ceremony, or even just some adventure elopement portraits.
3. Saren Cliff Point
Located on the southwest side of Nusa Penida, Saren Cliff Point is one of the best cliff points on the island, overlooking vibrant blue waters and a gorgeous stretch of beachfront. There are two different points where you can get views of the cliffs, and it’s one of the most calm, quiet, and stunning spots on the island – but be sure to be careful, because it’s a big drop from the cliff and can be dangerous.
Waterfalls
4. GitGit Waterfall
GitGit Waterfall is a popular waterfall in Bali, located near the Singaraja area of northern Bali, but is definitely one of the most underrated of Bali’s waterfalls. This is a super easy waterfall to visit thanks to the paved steps all the way to the waterfall, and the fact that it only takes a quick 15-minute hike to get to the beautiful falls. The jungle is so lush and vibrant, and the twin waterfalls cascading over the cliffs are just magical!
5. Tukad Cepung Waterfall
Tukad Cepung Waterfall is, in my opinion, one of the coolest waterfalls in Bali, as it’s actually located inside of a cave and the way the water flows down into the base is so freaking stunning. You can stand under the mist & beneath the sunrays that flow down into the cave, but unfortunately the waters at the base of the falls are too shallow to swim in. This is a popular spot in Bali so it’s best to visit early in the morning, or at least on a weekday if you can!
6. Sekumpul Waterfall
If you’ve ever seen photos of a waterfall in Bali, it’s likely you saw Sekumpul Waterfall – it’s often known as the most beautiful of all the waterfalls on the island. It’s one of the most picturesque waterfalls I’ve ever seen, with multiple streams of water cascading over the most lush, greenery-covered cliffs into a mossy rock pool. Because of its popularity, you’ll have to pay an entrance fee to visit the waterfall, and it’ll take you around 30 minutes to hike to the base of the falls.
7. Leke Leke Waterfall
Leke Leke Waterfall is definitely one of the hidden gems of Bali, as it’s located in a much more remote spot than most of the other waterfalls and requires a little more of a drive. You’ll take a 1.1-mile out-and-back trail to the waterfall, and there’s even a small restaurant + shop if you want to hang around for a little bit. It would be SO fun to enjoy an afternoon at this waterfall, spending some time at the restaurant and then hiking into the tropical jungles to get some epic portraits in your elopement attire at the waterfall!
8. Bhuana Sari Waterfall
Another of Bali’s hidden gems, Bhuana Sari Waterfall is located in the Buleleng Regency of north Bali, where the hills are typically less crowded with tourists & have more gorgeous spots for you to explore in private. It’s easy to get to Bhuana Sari Waterfall as well as the nearby Banyu Wana Waterfalls – just take a short walk from the entrance, through the bamboo forests, and you’ll be able to access 4 different waterfalls!
9. Nungnung Waterfall
Last but not least, Nungnung Waterfall is a stunning waterfall located about an hour from Ubud, and is also one of the less-crowded, underrated waterfalls on the island. It’s one of the biggest waterfalls in Bali, and is a little harder to reach than many others thanks to the 500 steps you have to walk down to get to the falls (and then walk back up). But it’s so worth it for the gorgeous waterfall at the end, plus a few smaller waterfalls on the way!
Lakes
10. Lake Batur
Moving onto some of the best lakes in Bali for your elopement – we’ll start with Lake Batur! As you might’ve been able to guess if you read the section above about Mount Batur, Lake Batur is a volcanic crater lake located inside the secondary caldera of Mount Batur. This picturesque lake is an amazing spot for swimming, boating, or canoeing, and would be perfect for an afternoon picnic after your ceremony, before we take sunset portraits in front of the lake!
11. Lake Bratan
Lake Bratan is another caldera lake, located near Mount Catur in Petang Village, and is the second largest lake in Bali! Just like Lake Batur, it’s an awesome spot for boating, jet skiing, canoeing, and swimming, so if you elope in Bali during the dry season and want to hop in the water to get a break from the heat, this is a great place to do so. An extra cool aspect of Lake Bratan is that it’s home to the Pura Ulun Danu temple, which adds so much beauty to the lakeshore.
12. Lake Tamblingan
Another of Bali’s beautiful caldera lakes, Lake Tamblingan is located in Buleleng Regency, at the foot of Mount Lesung. It sits high up on the mountainous region of Bali and is surrounded by multiple holy temples, with gorgeous views everywhere you look. If you want to be in the mountains and by the water for your elopement, you’ll love the alpine climate of this lake, with lush rainforest and incredible mountain views around you!
13. Lake Buyan
Finally, Lake Buyan is the second of the pair of lakes known as the “twin lakes” – located right next to Lake Tamblingan, the other half of the twin lakes! Just as from Lake Tamblingan, the scenery is stunning, especially from the wooden platform you can stand on to get a panoramic view, and it’s a great place to go swimming, boating, fishing, or simply walking along the water.
Beaches
14. Suluban Beach
Suluban Beach, also known as Blue Point, is an extended part of Uluwatu Beach located on the southwest coast of Bali. It’s one of the most unique beaches on the island & is definitely a hidden gem, featuring massive limestone formations, bright blue waters, and a large tide that’s great for surfing. You can access the beach via steps and log ramps through the rocks, and then you can explore the clear waters + walk along the coast and dramatic oceanside cliffs!
15. Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua is actually more than just a beach – it’s a luxurious resort area on the east side of Bali! It’s super well-known for its stunning five-star golf resorts, fine dining, and amazing opportunities for diving + surfing (pretty much all water sports). If you’re looking for a bit more of an upscale Bali experience, Nusa Dua is a spectacular part of the island to stay at, not only because of the luxurious accommodations but also the wide array of things there are for you to do.
16. Jimbaran Beach
If you’d rather a quieter beach without all the pomp & circumstance that Nusa Dua has to offer, Jimbaran Beach is a great option! Located on Bali’s southern peninsula, Jimbaran Beach is an iconic white sand beach with limestone cliffs, gorgeous views (of course!), and many beach restaurants + bars. The waves are super calm here during low tide, so it’s also an amazing place to enjoy the water and go for a swim, without as many tourists around since it is a bit of a smaller beach!
17. White Sand Beach
In case you couldn’t guess from its name, White Sand Beach is one of the most stunning white sand beaches in Bali. Located in Karangasem, this beach is also called Virgin Beach by tourists, since it’s one of the beaches that’s further from crowds and hasn’t been impacted quite as much by humans. If you want to visit a beach that’s usually quieter than most of Bali’s other beautiful beaches, you’ll love the peaceful atmosphere of White Sand Beach with fewer tourists around, as well as the crystal clear waters!
18. Mushroom Bay
Mushroom Bay is one of the best beaches in Nusa Lembongan, featuring tons of beachside restaurants, cafes, and bars that you can enjoy the scenery from! I can just picture a couple of newlyweds watching the sunset over the horizon from one of the waterfront bars at Mushroom Bay, toasting to the gorgeous views + their new marriage 😉 It’s a super peaceful, sheltered bay that you’ll love if you’re looking for a bit more of a relaxing, less active beach!
19. Seminyak Beach
Seminyak Beach is another of Bali’s more “fashionable,” luxurious beaches, as it’s home to many stunning resorts and upscale restaurants. You can enjoy an afternoon relaxing under an umbrella on the beach, then head into Seminyak for some fine dining, beautiful little boutiques, and a pampered night at a luxurious resort!
20. Balangan Beach
If you’re looking for the best spot in Bali to watch the sunset, Balangan Beach definitely has to be on your list. Whether you want to enjoy the scenery from down at the beach or atop the Balangan Cliff, the blue waters and narrow beach are simply stunning – and both the beach & the cliff are easy to get to! You should expect to see some other tourists around, as this is an iconic spot in Bali and probably isn't’ the place to go if you're looking for somewhere totally private.
Rice Terraces
21. Tegallalang Rice Terrace
Now if you’ve seen any sort of landscape photos of Bali, chances are you’ve seen at least one photo of Tegallalang Rice Terrace – it’s one of those places that looks like it was just MADE to be on a desktop screensaver, or displayed in a massive frame on the walls of a luxurious hotel. Located about 20 minutes north of Ubud, Tegallalang Rice Terrace is absolutely one of Bali’s most picturesque & iconic destinations, featuring stunning views overlooking the valley and rice terraces, with lush greenery as far as the eye can see. The cascading terraces surrounded by the vibrant jungle will leave your jaw on the FLOOR, especially if you visit at sunrise or sunset – pure magic!
22. Sidemen Rice Terraces
Sidemen has a large area of rice terraces in east Bali, which are more of Bali’s most popular & photogenic rice terraces. You can take tours of the paddies or simple stop here if you’re driving along the temple tour route – no matter how long you have to spend, the Sidemen Rice Fields are a must-visit.
23. Busungbiu Rice Terrace
Next up is the Busungbiu Rice Terrace, one of the lesser-known of the rice terraces in north Bali. Located in the peaceful Kekeran village, this rice terrace is more secluded than many of the popular rice terraces, but is still fairly close to the tourist-y area of Bali if you want to stay close to more tourist activities. The scenery of the surrounding hills and jungles is absolutely stunning, of course, with rich greenery everywhere!
Caves + Canyons
24. Hidden Canyon Beji Guwang
Hidden Canyon, also known as Beji Guwang, is a super cool canyon located near the Pura Dalem Guwang village and close to the Guwang market. This sacred Balinese site definitely provides one of the coolest and most unique ways to experience Bali, featuring scenic ravines and beautiful gorges along the Oos River. Besides the beautiful scenery, this canyon also has a rich history as a sacred place for Hindus, so make sure you’re respectful and wear appropriate clothes when you visit!
25. Aling Gorge
And last but definitely not least, Aling Gorge is a world-famous canyon that people visit from all over to climb, rappel, and just explore! This super steep gorge is such a cool option for adventurous couples who want a bit of a thrilling way to experience Bali, with tons of jumps and rappels that take you down to the glistening water that you can swim in. It would be so cool to incorporate a tour of Aling Gorge into your elopement itinerary if you’re up for an adventure!
