Bohemian Desert Elopement in Moab, Utah

Mariah + Andy’s Utah elopement was one of the most intentional, meaningful, and beautiful experiences I’ve ever had.

I arrived at their Airbnb just before noon and we chatted while I met their sweet pitbull pup Bella (a literal angel puppy). They drove all the way from Missouri just to include her in their special day.

As they got ready upstairs, I shot some of their elopement day details including her dried floral bouquet, rings from her grandmothers, and pocket watches from Andy’s late father.

Their emotional first look included Mariah’s father (she surprised him with a tie featuring a picture of them together when she was little) and then Andy where she gifted him a tie clip engraved with his parents’ handwriting and he gifted her with a necklace that belonged to his mother.

We then set off to Arches National Park for a picnic lunch, exploring and sand dune fun. We were even greeted by their “wedding day” crows who stopped by to offer some good luck and a little company during their picnic!

From there, we went to their ceremony site on the most beautiful little cliffside overlooking the canyons of Dead Horse State Park. Their families, friends, and Bella joined us for their sunset vows.

Mariah walked down the “aisle” with her dad who doubled as the officiant, while her step-dad played a song he wrote for them on acoustic guitar.

They exchanged personal vows and rings, and Mariah’s step-dad and mother surprised them with an acoustic version of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.”

We hung out in the canyons deep into blue hour, but once it was dark we made our way back to the Airbnb for the most amazing 7-course meal crafted by private chef @saltdco.

We exchanged stories, laughed, talked, and shared speeches honoring the couple until midnight when we said our goodbyes.

We met up the following day around 8 pm and went jeeping through the national parks and hung out until around 1 am exploring the landscape and taking epic starry photos.

It was one of those rare nights where Venus was the brightest and the stars were just sparkling so immaculately.

I can’t thank Mariah + Andy enough for allowing me to capture their absolutely perfect elopement.

Kind Words from Mariah + Andy:

“I would hire Katie a million times over if I could! Our photos turned out more magical than we could have ever anticipated. She captured us and our day so well and she became both a friend and family during our time together. She was such an integral part of our elopement and her fun-loving, reliable, and incredibly generous personality made our wedding day absolutely perfect. I would recommend her to anyone considering an adventure elopement. She’s the real deal!” — Mariah & Andy
